The Portuguese Government granted the Sesmarias*
to Portuguese people and, to stimulate the development
of Brazil, they had received lands, and in October
6th of 1796, the Captain Mor Inácio Ferreira
de Sá, and in October 20th of 1798, the
Captain Mor da Vila de São Carlos Floriano
Penteado, received their lands in Brazil.
The Captain Mor Inácio had a son, called
Joaquim Ferreira Penteado, who became commentator
and received the heading of “Baron of Itatiba”.
The Captain Mor Floriano, who was uncle-grandfather
of Joaquim, had a daughter called Francisca
de Paula Camargo, known as “Dona Francisca”.
The Baron of Itatiba was married to his cousin
Dona Francisca, in May 15th of 1830, joining this
way, part of the “sesmarias” and establishing
the Farm Two Bridges (Fazenda Duas Pontes).
The tenth third son of the couple, Mr. Inácio de Ferreira Camargo Andrade
was married to Dona Brandina Emilia Leite Penteado, and was the heir of Farm
Two Bridges. Unfortunately, in one of his travels around Europe, Mr. Inácio
contracted an illness and died so young. The couple did not have any children
and D. Brandina, still young, was a very rich widower.
D. Brandina was married then, to Artur Furtado Albuquerque Cavalcanti, who had
the heading of “Chief Judge Furtado” (“Desembargador
Furtado”),
passing himself as the new owner of the Farm.
Artur Furtado looked for to benefit the Farm with improvements and many sumptuous
workmanships, that exists until nowadays, like the Water Wheel, the Sawframe
and the Mill of Corn Meal. He made it an obligation to put the initials of his
name “AF” in his workmanships, including the bricks, like those that
we still can observe nowadays. For so many workmanships, Artur Furtado spent
disorderedly, contracting enormous debts and, this way, he end up being execute
for creditors.
The Farm has been took to auction and bought at auction by Colonel Cristiano
Osório de Oliveira, for approximately 600 “contos de réis” (money
of that period).
Admirable administrator, he turned the Farm into one of the main agricultural
properties of Campinas, with magnificent farming, cattle of race animals and
beautiful installations. He also produced around of 100.000 bags of coffee for
year, flowing off the production by the train station “Tanquinho” and
by the Carlos Gomes’s Station, which belongs to the Company Mogiana of
Railroad, which rails run until today by the nearness of the Hotel.
With the dead of the Colonel, the Farm had been gave for his heirs that decided
to divide the lands and sell the area of approximately 10 “acquires”,
where the Big House is situated.
The Farm was despised for ten years.
Finally, in 1971, the Engineer Dr. Roberto Ceccarelli, undertaker of extraordinary
vision, and his wife Ms. Lúcia Fanele Ceccarelli, had bought the Farm
Two Brigdes and, together, transformed it in a Hotel Farm. Baptized as “Hotel
Farm Solar das Andorinhas”, the hotel, nowadays, is the most complete of
Brazil, preserving it’s colonial style and it’s history, based at “Solar
das Andorinhas Preserving the History’s Project” (PAPH).
